Who We Are
We are a group of citizens
inspired by a vision of a beautiful and revitalized center of Santa
Paula's historic downtown, who joined together in 1997 to develop a
series of murals telling "Our Story"...and a fascinating story it
is! Our goal is to achieve this vision by identifying significant
developments in our rich history and selecting outstanding artists
from around the country to portray that history on appropriate walls
within our Historic district. To accomplish this an 18 member
Coordinating Committee representing a broad spectrum of interests:
artists, historians, architects, engineers, business women and men
and civic minded individuals were brought together and have been
working to bring our vision to reality over the last seven years.
We have now completed 7 stunning
murals with the 8th to be started during the summer of 2004. Each
mural takes from 2 to 3 months to complete. The murals are best
viewed on an easy walking tour using the map on our website, or by
picking up a map at the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce in our
historic depot at 200 North 10th Street.
How You Can Help
The Murals of Santa Paula are a
non-profit organization supported by generous contributions from the
citizens of Santa Paula as well as several committed businesses and
civic groups which together must raise over $20,000 for each of our
murals. Another source of funds has come from visitors and friends
from other communities who have enjoyed bringing their families and
friends to experience the enchantment of seeing "Our Story" as told
through the eyes, hearts and hands of our talented artists.
If you would like to make a
contribution to help us continue to celebrate the arts and our
multicultural history we would welcome your gift in any amount. Your
tax deductible check should be made out to: The Murals of Santa
Paula, and sent to Mr. Roland Rogers, 711 Regent Court, Santa Paula,
Ca. 93060. Your gift will be acknowledged by our Founder and
President, Joyce Carlson. |
